Echo Songs

· Mirror (both leader and kids do actions to music simultaneously, leader changes action and kids start doing that new action)
· Echo (leader does a rhythm for four or eight beats, then kids repeat it)
· Guess the sound

· Improv game: Someone sings a song like “Happy Birthday” until someone else taps that person’s shoulder and takes over singing a new song related to the last one like “Hey, Hey It’s Your Birthday.” The similarity could be a word or a theme.

· Invite musicians to come and talk about their instrument/music
· If doing an art program, incorporate music into it. For example for a pop-up program, play Mary Poppins in the background.
· If doing a writing program, use music as inspiration (write what the music makes you feel) or incorporate lyrics, raps, chants into the program.
· If doing a book group, use a book that has music in it like The Last Holiday Concert by Andrew Clements.
· If doing a history program or cultural program, use music from that time period or that culture.
